- Design, supply, install & commission
- Fully addressable fire detection system
- Phased upgrade project
One of a number of schools the borough had chosen to carry out extensive improvement works on, this was an interesting project.
The existing fire alarm system was not deemed adequate and it was decided that an upgrade was required. In addition to this, a significant class extension to the school was already under construction, along with a new main reception structure. As three separate projects, the installation of the fire alarm system needed to be integrated and managed so that cover to the main school, still in operation during construction works, was maintained.
AJ Fire & Security Ltd were engaged as specialists by the electrical contractor responsible for delivering all three projects, a design was submitted and accepted and a suitable process was established. The extension was completed first, installed as a stand-alone system & temporarily linked to the existing old system allowing the school to occupy the new space.
Over the following summer holiday period, the new system for the existing building and new reception area was installed, whilst keeping the old system up and running. At the end if the project all aspects of the new system were successfully integrated to form one large system, fully compliant to current standards and all without a break in fire cover for the building or occupants. The old system was then stripped out ready for the start of the new school term.
